Admission Details
Established in 2000, the College of Engineering, Karunagappally is affiliated to APJ AbdulKalam Technological University (KTU) and is approved by the AICTE. The institute is owned by Government of Kerala and managed by Institute of Human Resource and Development (IHRD).

Admission to all BTech seats, except the 5% NRI quota, is conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) through the KEAM rank list. Vacant seats, if any, will be filled from Non-KEAM Candidates.
The college has three types of seats
Merit Lower Fee Seats
Allotment: By the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Govt. of Kerala, from the KEAM rank list.
No of seats : 60 seats in CS, 30 seats in AD, 22 seats in EC, 22 seats in ME
Fees : Rs. 21,000/- per semester
Academic Eligibility: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry as one of the optional subjects with atleast 45% marks put together in the above subjects are eligible for admission. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, the marks obtained in Computer Science shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science the marks obtained in Biotechnology shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science and Biotechnology the marks obtained in Biology shall be considered. The marks as shown in the mark list of the Board of Examination obtained from the respective Higher Secondary Board shall be considered for academic eligibility.
Note:- (i) In two year Kerala Higher Secondary courses or examinations recognised equivalent thereto with two year course where the Board Examinations are conducted in both years, the total marks of two years in the respective subjects as shown in the mark lists of the respective Higher Secondary Boards will be considered for academic eligibility. (ii) In Higher Secondary courses or examinations recognised equivalent thereto where Board Examinations are conducted only at the end of 12th class (final year), the marks in the respective subjects as shown in the mark lists of the respective Higher Secondary Boards will be considered for academic eligibility. (iii) For all other type of Higher Secondary courses or Examinations recognised equivalent thereto, the marks of the respective subjects as shown in the mark list of the respective Board of Examinations will be considered for academic eligibility. (iv) The Vocational Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, has been recognised as equivalent to the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala. (v) In the case of Nominees of Government of India and Nominees of Reciprocal quota seats who are selected on the basis of the marks in the qualifying examination, the academic eligibility as specified in the above clause is applicable.
Candidates belonging to SC/ST/SEBC or PD the minimum mark obtained in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/Computer Science/ Biotechnology/Biology taken together in qualifying examination shall be 40% instead of 45%.
Note: The relaxation of marks in the qualifying examination extended to SEBC candidates only will be applicable to OEC candidates, even if they are allotted against unavailed seats of SC/ST quota.

Merit Full fee Seats
Allotment: By the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Govt. of Kerala, from the KEAM rank list.
No of seats: 54 seats in CS, 27 seats in AD, 6 seats in EC, 6 seats in ME
Fees : Rs. 68,250/- per year. Can be paid in two installments at the beginning of odd and even semesters
Academic Eligibility: 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission.
NRI Seats
Allotment: By the Director of IHRD from the list of applicants.
No of seats: 2 seats each in ECE and ME, 6 seats in CS, 3 seats in AD
Academic Eligibility : Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry put together (or equivalent subjects specified in prospectus of KEAM-2025) are eligible for admission under NRI seats in Engineering Colleges under IHRD. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination.
Other Eligibility Criteria: The candidates seeking admission to B. Tech NRI seats should be a child/ ward/ dependent of an NRI and should enclose a declaration from the NRI {form enclosed as VIII(7)} along with the application
Fees : Rs. 1,00,000/- per year. A refundable deposit of Rs.1,25,000/- to be paid at the time of admission ( as was followed on the previous year, till any modification ordered by Govt. of Kerala / IHRD)
